Natural disasters and the Holy Quran

God(Allah in Arabic) never destroys the righteous people. Allah SWT never destroys any community unjustly as He confirms: [The Noble Koran 6:47] “Say: Have you considered if the chastisement of Allah should overtake you suddenly or openly, will any be destroyed but the unjust people?” [The Noble Koran 6:131] “(The apostles were sent) thus, for thy Lord would not destroy for their wrong-doing men's habitations whilst their occupants were unwarned.” [The Noble Koran 11:117] “And it did not beseem your Lord to have destroyed the towns tyrannously, while their people acted well.” [The Noble Koran 18.59] “And (as for) these towns, We destroyed them when they acted unjustly, and We have appointed a time for their destruction.” [The Noble Koran 38:3] “How many did We destroy before them of the generations, then they cried while the time of escaping had passed away.” [The Noble Koran 17:17] “And how many of the generations did We destroy after Nuh! and your Lord is sufficient as Knowing and Seeing with regard to His servants' faults.” [The Noble Koran 5:98] “Know that Allah is severe in requiting (evil) and that Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” Wraths of Allah SWT(in the form of natural disasters) are coming one after another in Muslims Ummah. Of course, a lot of terrible disasters occurs in non-Muslim countries(that is very natural and easy comprehensible) but why almost at the same proportionally those terrible disasters strike Muslim countries that is a big question, that’s need to be analysis carefully?!

In Bangladesh(in 1960 cyclone and tidal wave killed about 6,000 people, in 1963 cyclone killed about 22,000 people, in 1965 cyclone killed about 47,000, in 1970 cyclone and tidal waves killed 300,000, in 1991 cyclone killed over 131,000), unprecedented earth quakes struck in Iran(in 2003 killed 40,000 in 1990 killed 50,000 people, in 1967 killed 14,000, in 1968 killed 18600, in 1978 killed 25000, in 1990 killed 40,000, in 1997 killed 2500, in 1727 killed 77000), in Pakistan(in 1935, earth quake killed 30,000– 60,000 people ), in Turkey(in 1999 earth quake killed 39,000 people, in 1939 killed 40,000), in Indonesia(in 2004 Tsunami killed more than 110,000), in Syria(earth quake in 1202 killed 230,000), in Egypt(in 1992, earth quake killed 7000), in Yemen(earth quake 1982 killed 15000, in Afghanistan(in 1907 earth quake killed 12000, in 1998 earth quake killed 4400, again in 1998 earth quake killed 5000), in Jordan(in 1837 earth quake killed 4000) etc. This is, of course, not complete list just only few examples. According to the Holy Quran, earth quake, tusanmi, tidal wave, cyclone etc. are common form of punishment comes from Allah SWT as signs and as Wraths to mankind as Allah SWT says in the holy Koran, [The Noble Koran 29:40] “Each one of them(wicked people) We seized for his crime: of them, against some We sent a violent tornado (with showers of stones); some were caught by a (mighty) Blast; some We caused the earth to swallow up; and some We drowned (in the waters): It was not Allah Who injured (or oppressed) them:" They injured (and oppressed) their own souls.” It is a great fortunate news that Allah SWT Himself considers to save righteous people from those disasters as an essential task for Him(Alhamdulillah), [The Noble Koran 10:103] “Then shall We save Our messengers and the believers, in like manner (as of old). It is incumbent upon Us to save believers.” Allah SWT only tests His prophets and righteous people befalling temporal problems and after testing Allah SWT showers His Mercy to His prophets and righteous people both in this life and the hereafter. In fact, Allah SWT tested every prophets and their followers but prophets and their followers eventually got rewards for their patience during testing period. Typical examples like prophet Ayub(Job), our father of the nation prophet Ibrahim(peace be upon them) etc., [The Noble Koran 21:83-84] “And (remember) Ayub(Job), when He cried to his Lord, "Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful." So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who serve Us.” [The Noble Koran 2:124] “And remember that Abraham was tried by his Lord with certain commands, which he fulfilled: Allah said: "I will make you a Leader to the Nations." He pleaded: "And also (Imams) from my offspring!" He answered: "But My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers." How does Allah SWT perfectly save prophets, messengers and true righteous(Mumins) from those type of disasters, we can see enormous examples in the Glorious Koran, Allah SWT destroyed entire community of prophet Lut(peace be upon him) but He saved Lut(Lot) and his family(except his wife). [The Noble Koran 54:34] “Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak.” [The Noble Koran 29:33] “And when Our messengers came to Lut he was grieved on account of them, and he felt powerless (to protect) them; and they(angles) said: Fear not, nor grieve; surely we will save you and your followers, except your wife; she shall be of those who remain behind.” God Almighty destroyed all people of prophet Nuh(peace be upon him) but saved His prophet and only few but all righteous people with Nuh(Noah). Nuh’s own son could not get spare from the Wrath of Allah SWT. Prophet Nuh saw his beloved son was drowning in front of him but he could not manage to do anything, besides, even Allah SWT rebuked prophet Nuh vehemently for Nuh’s appeal in favor of his son, [The Noble Koran 11:32] “They(wicked people of Nuh) said: O Nuh! indeed you have disputed with us and lengthened dispute with us, therefore bring to us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful ones.” [The Noble Koran 11:36-37] “And it was revealed to Nuh: That none of your people will believe except those who have already believed, therefore do not grieve at what they do. Build the ship under Our eyes and by Our inspiration, and speak not unto Me on behalf of those who do wrong. Lo! they will be drowned.” [The Noble Koran 11:42-43] “And it(ship) moved on with them(Nuh and righteous people) amid water waves like mountains; and Nuh called out to his son, and he was aloof: O my son! embark with us and be not with the unbelievers. He said: I will betake myself for refuge to a mountain that shall protect me from the water. Nuh said: There is no protector today from Allah's punishment but He Who has mercy; and a wave intervened between them, so he was of the drowned.” [The Noble Koran 11:45-46] “Nuh cried out to his Lord and said: My Lord! surely my son is of my family, and Thy promise is surely true, and Thou art the most just of the judges. Allah said: O Nuh! surely he is not of your family; surely he is (the doer of) other than good deeds, therefore ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge; surely I admonish you lest you(Nuh) may be of the ignorant.” [The Noble Koran 21:76] “And Nuh, when he cried aforetime, so We answered him, and delivered him and his followers from the great calamity.” Allah SWT drowned Firon(Pharaoh), his army and followers but saved prophets Musa(Moses) and Harun(Aaron )[peace be upon them] and their followers. [The Noble Koran 2:50] “And when We parted the sea for you, so We saved you and drowned the followers of Firon and you watched by.” [The Noble Koran 3:11] “Like the striving of the people of Firon and those before them; they rejected Our communications, so Allah destroyed them on account of their faults; and Allah is severe in requiting (evil).” [The Noble Koran 7:103] “Then we raised after them Musa with Our communications to Firon and his chiefs, but they disbelieved in them; consider then what was the end of the mischief makers.” [The Noble Koran 8:54] “In the manner of the people of Firon and those before them; they rejected the communications of their Lord, therefore We destroyed them on account of their faults and We drowned Firon's people, and they were all unjust.” [The Noble Koran 73:16] “But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold.” Allah SWT similarly destroyed people of prophets Hud, Salih and Suayb(peace be upon them) but saved His prophets and all righteous people with them. This is the eternal law of Allah SWT. [The Noble Koran 11:58] “And when Our decree came to pass, We saved Hud and those who believed with him with mercy from Us, and We delivered them from a hard chastisement.” [The Noble Koran 11:66] “So when Our decree came to pass, We saved Salih and those who believed with him by mercy from Us, and (We saved them) from the disgrace of that day; surely your Lord is the Strong, the Mighty.” [The Noble Koran 11:94] “And when Our decree came to pass We saved Shu'aib, and those who believed with him by mercy from Us, and the rumbling overtook those who were unjust so they became motionless bodies in their abodes.” So many places in the Holy Koran it is very clearly declared that Allah SWT has power over all things[The Noble Koran 2:20, 2:106, 2:109, 2:148, 2:284, 3:29, 3:165, 3:189, 5:17 etc.]; therefore those earth quakes, tusanmi, tidal waves, cyclones etc. can never be happened without His permission and Will. Not only that, punishments like those come from Allah SWT as signs and admonishments for mankind so that we can get lesson and be careful in our duty to Allah SWT. [The Noble Koran 25:37] “And the people of Nuh, when they rejected the apostles, We drowned them, and made them a sign for men, and We have prepared a painful punishment for the unjust.” [The Noble Koran 10:92] “We will this day deliver you with your body that you(Firon) may be a sign to those after you, and most surely the majority of the people are heedless to Our communications.” Allah SWT would not change us automatically if we wouldn’t try earnestly to mend our self and do the right things according to His commands as He says very clearly in the Glorious Koran, [The Noble Koran 13:11] “……..Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change their own condition….” Now main question is, what are the faults of majority of Muslims?: It may be a quite lengthy list but I would like to put here two basic points. 1. Commands of Allah SWT are very clear and obvious in the Holy Koran even though Muslim Ummah are divided into different sects, groups, countries and they are some cases at so odds with each other that they are fighting and killing each other. Allah SWT warns Muslims very distinctly about these types of wicked behaviors, [The Noble Koran 3:103] “And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves.........” [The Noble Koran 6:159] “As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the least: their affair is with Allah. He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did." 2. The rules and orders of Allah SWT are very clear in the Holy Koran and those who would not intend to apply those rules in their every aspects of life, they are in fact no longer Muslims, and they are actually unbelievers according to Noble Koran, [The Noble Koran 5: 44] “…………If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) unbelievers.” [The Noble Koran 5: 45] “………If any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) wrong-doers.” [The Noble Koran 5: 47] “………... If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel.” Therefore, according to those above Noble verses, it is obvious that very little percentage of people in Muslims Ummah is real Muslims. Most of the people in Muslims Ummah are never ready to accept the Holy Koranic rules and commands in their daily life. That is why most of the Muslims countries is not governed by the commands of Allah SWT(commands of the Koran). So those most of the people can not be better than unbelievers, wrong-doers and rebel as the Holy Koran confirms. I am very sorry to say all these but I am just analyzing the facts in the light of the Glorious Koran. Few countries like Afghanistan(Taliban regime), present Iran regime(in fact Shia regime), Saudi Arabia(kingdom regime) etc. are/were pretending that they are/were following Islamic laws but in reality they actually further divide Muslim Ummah in the name of Islam. These countries swallow so many rules from so called authentic Hadiths and Fiqa that a lot of true Koranic Orders are violated within those so called Sariah laws. Above these circumstances, let us think again and again what are our faults, and the severity of faults are so much so that time to time Allah SWT destroys some parts of Muslim regions and reminds and cautious us to be complete Muslims |

[The Noble Koran 3:102] “O you who believe! be careful of (your duty to) Allah with the care which is due to Him, and do not die unless you are true Muslims.” Otherwise, today which disasters befall on to other parts of Muslim Ummah(we are helplessly watching), tomorrow may befall on to us as well.
